The flag seen here is my take on David Hammons' flag, which is commonly known as the "African America Flag," I've removed the 50 stars and replaced them with 3 large ones, a reference to the Tennessee State flag.

Nashville is more than country music. But even if it wasn't, we love country music, too. Because our Black ancestors invented it - along with every other genre of American music. These roots run deep here in the 615.

The city got it’s name, “Music City” because of the global work of the ex-slaves that formed the Fisk Jubilee Singers.

Beyond music, Nashville was a headquarter for the civil rights movement at Fisk University. Home of 4 HBCUs (7 in Tennessee) And we are growing as a headquarter for visual art as well.

I owe so much love & gratitude to my community in Nashville Tennessee. I love this city. The people that educate my kids, support my artistic expressions, come out to my exhibitions, entrepreneurs that advise me on how to stay balanced, the trees at Shelby Park that shade me, the sounds that move me, the thriving Black Nashville I know, deserves all the love it can get.

This hat is made to honor my community of Black Nashville.
Support Black Nashville.
